How It All Began
The lady came to the show in Oskaloosa with her husband. She saw all the do rags and was pleased to learn that she was really talking with the designer of all the head-wear. She could not pass up the opportunity to express her desire to have some do rag that would eliminate her dilemma. With that, she took off the scarf she had carefully tied around her head to reveal a mass of bobby pins holding her hair in a bun on the top of her head. It was the only way she could get it to stay because her hair was super thin. “These stick and hurt when I put on my helmet and when I move around! Not to mention that I cannot ride for long because it gives me a sore spot on the top of my head.”
After learning a bit more, work began on the first do rag with a place for long hair on the back. It was a black and white paisley. We planned to meet at the next Oskaloosa show, but the email with her color preference did not arrive soon enough to make one in that color before I had to stop work and prepare for the show. So, what colors would a gal want? Pink or purple? I made purple. They came the next day to the show. RATS! I learned he is a KU guy, so purple would not work for her. She wanted one like mine. Nice! I got it made and mailed out to her. At the next show we connected, I did not see her with anything on her long, blond hair which was flowing behind her as she walked up. I had to ask, “Did the hair stocking® arrive yet?” She was thrilled! It arrived the day before and she put it on before they left to come to the show. She left it on the bike when she got there. So easy!
The purple one sold that day and the hair bag® and hair stocking® do rags have been selling well every since.
Bad Hair Day Solution
She saw the sign that read “Long Hair Solution” and had to learn more at the Eureka show. Jillian works construction and is proud to be a woman working in a man’s field. When she learned she could get the hair stocking® do rag in a larger size she was in. The choices on the rack would not work for her. No problem, custom materials were available and she selected the bright paisley. She explained, “Wearing a hard hat everyday really does nothing for your hair and there are some days when I am glad I have it to hide the way it looks. My long hair is not a problem. This is what I need for my bad hair days.” Thus, Jillian provided the words I use on my signs at shows today that read “Bad Hair Day Solution”. — Jillian P., Wichita KS
With two kids in tow and pulling her in different directions, the mom could not be swayed from her mission to stop and check out the hair bags. Her hair was naturally curly and long so the sign about bad hair day spoke to her. She took a quick glance around and invited the boys to give their opinion on which one they thought would be good. She informed them that she could really use this when they go camping. Camouflage, of course. She held it up to admire the fact that it had lizards and the boys were pleased that their mom would go for the one they wanted her to get.
Amusement Park Rides are Tangle-Free
At the Excelsior Springs Waterfest the mom was very glad to stop and learn how the hair bag® do rag could make it easy to keep her hair contained. Her hair was long and full, but she discovered it would quickly tuck into the hair pocket. She explained they were on their way to Worlds of Fun for the day and she was always having her hair get in the way when she went on the rides. Plus, it just got so tangled and messed up. She got a purple hair bag® do rag to make her day more fun with the family.

Love the Sweatband
She was fascinated to learn how the hair bag® and hair stocking® do rags were made with an absorbent sweatband when she came to the fall show and selected two to take home.
It was later that year, at the December Lawrence show, when I got the feedback. She shared she is a Master Gardener and her gardening keeps her out in the hot sun a lot. Her thick hair would get in the way before she had the hair bag® do rags and now she does not worry about that, but it is the absorbent sweatband that she really loves!
She is a cat lover and could not pass on the hair stocking® do rag with the big cats at the December show. She got fourth one, too. It was the pink and purple batik. — Ann C., Topeka KS
Hold the Dog, Not the Do Rag
Zoey loves to ride on the back of the trike with Jody while Sonny cruises down the road. Until being introduced to the hair stocking® do rag, Jody was worried about having the hold the dog and not having a free hand to catch her do rag from blowing off in the wind. The Labrador, Zoey, always wears big red googles when she rides, but once there was something that hit her and she just about jumped off the trike.
Jody liked the way the hair stocking I was wearing looked, so she got the orange and yellow hair stocking® do rag with suns and acorns in the tail that I had available at the ABATE rally. She really wanted to get something with dragonflies, but the orange one would be good to get started. I was able to find a dragonflies in yellow material, so she wanted to get the second one, too.
Jody realized she did not have to worry about trying to hold onto the hair stocking® do rag the very first time she used it on the trike. When she arrived at their destination, she had to really work to get it off. Thus, she was confident that she really does not have to worry about the wind taking it off. As she puts it, she can look up, around and every direction with no worries of loosing it. — Jody G., Clyde KS
Attractive Hair Stocking® Do Rags
At the Garden Show, Deanna was very interested in the hair stocking® do rags. As a Master Gardener, she knew how keeping her hair out of the way was a continual ritual for working outside in the hot sun. During the show she stopped by the booth several times, observed how the others were selecting those on the rack and the choices dwindled. Finally, it was too much for her to pass on getting one, but the one she thought might be good had just been purchased.
I had the same material and could make a custom one for her, but after trying them on she was glad to learn that the sold one would not have been a good choice because she really wanted to go with the larger size. While she held onto the material that was like the one that had sold, Deanna took her time looking through the material bags to select the one she wanted for her custom hair stocking® do rag. In the end, she selected a different material. It was good to receive her email that read…
My hat arrived on Tuesday and I’m very pleased with it, thank you. The way you laid out the sections with the colors is quite attractive. Nice job. I look forward to seeing you again.
Best, — Deanna N., Topeka KS
I Must Wear Something to Cover My Hair
The guy had his hair in a ponytail when he stopped to take a look at the hair bag® do rags. He saw how it worked as I showed him how I put mine on at the show. He quickly selected the remaining camo one. He continued to listen while I told him how my husband was at home making some wood plaques and would definitely be using his right now. He shared with me that was what he did every day. He is a carpenter and installs kitchen cabinets. While he uses a ponytail and a hat, there was no way for him to keep everything out of his hair. He thought this would really work for him and he took some cards to pass along.
The lady stopped by to check out the hair bag® do rags and knew she had lots of opportunity to wear it. She worked in the school cafeteria and they were required to wear something to cover their hair. Yes, it looked like this would work just fine to her and she easily selected the gray camo one because that was a school color. Press here for this hair bag® do rag.
In 2016, at the SantaCaliGon Days, she explained that she owns a bakery in Topeka and makes lots of cakes so it’s flour and more flour. She was glad to see how easy it was to put on the hair bag® and all the coverage it would provide for her hair. But, it is the heat from the ovens that can make it a warm place when everything gets going so it was the enclosed terry in the band that absolutely would work.
She stopped to say she LOVES the hair bag® do rag! In 2017, at the Wamego Tulip Festival, it was very good to have the baker stop and share how much she enjoys the way the hair bag is working for her. She tells everyone how much she likes it. This time she selected the white lace hair bag.
As she looked over the hair stocking® do rags at the show, she explained her hair was thinning and it really was not because of any illness. It just was the way her hair was. She worked in an office and really wanted a hair stocking® do rag that would look nice and not be too thick. She wore a lot of blues and dark blues. She saw the rain drops material that was used in the head wraps and liked the feel of it but did not see a lot of blue in it. I explained that the material really transitioned to blues and I thought I could easily make her hair stocking® using the majority of it in the blue sections. She was very pleased when she received it. — Colleen H., Overland Park KS
It was good to see the lady wearing her blue and white stripe and railroad looking hair bag® do rag at a later show. She stopped by to report that she really needed it and liked it. Her hair was always getting tangled when she motorcycled and she could only put so much conditioner on it. Now, she just puts on her hair bag and she is good to go. No more damage from the ride for her hair!
Health Care Scrub Caps
Thinking of her daughter, the mom got a hair stocking® do rag and explained this would be an ideal gift. She was so proud of her daughter for being a veterinarian. She thought this would work for her when she did her surgery work.
The ladies were actually doing their holiday shopping when they stopped by at the Maple Leaf Festival, but after checking out the hair bags, they knew the gift they selected would be used later that day. The mom explained that her other daughter was headed to work later that day at the hospital and she was not going to wait to give her the hair bag because she would put it to use right away.
She had stopped by earlier to take a look at the hair bag® and hair stocking® do rags at the show. She came by the second time to learn more about how they worked. She liked the red and expressed she liked the pirate look for work as she discussed getting the hair stocking® do rag with her spouse on her last stop that day. I had to ask what she did that she wanted a pirate look for work. Was it some sort of Renaissance or acting work? “No, I work in a meat packing plant,” she stated as she got it. The grandmother and granddaughter were shopping together at Burlington. The granddaughter was certain the head-wear would be something her grandmother would like. The grandmother asked about wearing the hair bag® and hair stocking® do rags for mowing and when she was doing yard work. I shared that many of my gardener customers really liked them because of their absorbent headbands. She tried the regular size on, but really wanted the larger size. She wanted something to cover her ears and her hair which wasn’t especially long, but would certainly be covered by the white hair stocking® she selected. Her granddaughter went with a black spider head wrap. While there was a white head wrap, the grandmother was sold on the way the hair stocking® felt secure on her head and it did not feel like it was going to move around while she was doing her yard work. She did not want to get anything in her hair. Press here to get the details on the white with open flowers hair stocking® she bought. She came to the Wamego Tulip Festival and saw the sign about being proud to have long hair and keeping it so she had to investigate. “I’m a welder and I could use that at work,” said the welder. She went on to explain that sometimes the sparks get to flying and they will occasionally land on her long, hair. The hair stocking® do rag seemed like a practical solution and she really liked the pink color.
After receiving favorable responses like that from this welder for the hair bags, material offerings have expanded to include heat and flame resistant, Nomex. Press here for the hair bag® do rag in Nomex.

She could not wait to tell me how truly happy she was with her welding cap. I was thrilled when she shared pictures in her second one showing how all of her dreadlocks really do fit in it. The guy, who could not pass up getting a hair bag® do rag for himself, explained that he cuts his hair every 18 months for Locks of Love. He currently was sporting about 4 months of growth and it was already shoulder length when he got his at a show.
At another show, a lady was thrilled to get a hair bag® do rag for herself. She explained that she had gotten convinced to cut her hair off so she could ride without having to worry with her hair. She knew she did not like it at all! She was growing it back. She hates the in-between stages that she was going through and she got hers to make getting through it easier.
Enjoy the Ride
The hair bag® do rags seemed like a perfect, must-have choice for the lady at the Arizona Bike Week show. She took a look at those in her size and settled on the lovely, pink and purple stripe one. A definite match for her. It was easy for her to put it on. Glad to get her picture.
It was a fun shopping experience for the friends as they found about the hair bag® do rags at the SantaCaliGon Days. While Carolyn found one in the patriotic print with waves and a bit of sparkle; she really wanted something with more glitz. She had to get one in the material I still had to show her in a hat band. It has sparkles and teal, butterflies on black satin. It was great to receive her pictures. Especially those with her Spyder. — Carolyn I., Kansas City KS Press here for the patriotic waves hair stocking and press here for the turquoise butterflies one.
Realtor, Marty stopped by to check out the hair bag® and hair stocking® do rags at the Lawrence show. Once he saw how they worked, he had to get one for his wife. He did not think the colors that were on the display were exactly what would work for her. He wanted something nice so they could enjoy riding in his convertible. He selected an interesting geometric batik in blues. When asked, what color his convertible was he said, “Red.” Wow! Won’t she look sharp in her hair stocking® cruising around with him. — Marty H., Lawrence KS
Kim saw the hair bag® and hair stocking® do rags at Cassoday, but expressed she really wanted something that was going to be bright when she rode her motorcycle. She tried several, checked out the custom material choices, but kept coming back to the rain drops one. Finally, she decided she would just go ahead and try it. Nice! That was just right.
She was glad to stop by the booth at the next show she saw us at and this time she wanted to get something custom made for herself. She still wanted something bright, but she wanted another color. The hair stocking® that she requested was a Patriotic looking one with red and white waves with glitzy, silver stars. — Kim A., Goddard KS Press here for the waves hair stocking® do rag.
The friends, Kim and Jodie, stopped to see all the head-wear at Wamengo. They talked about the fun trips they had riding with their spouses on the motorcycles. They saw the hair bag® and hair stocking® do rags and how they worked. Both gals began to think this could be very good when they took a quick ride and wanted to stop in for a bite to eat along the way. They could just take it off and have their hair down while they ate rather than having it all tied up. Not certain about getting something that would look right for both of them on the display, they happily searched through the custom materials bags. Low and behold, they both wanted the black and white paisley. With that order, they received the last ones that could be made in this material as it was no longer available. — Kim H. and Jodie R., Junction City KS
Rita really needed the larger size hair stocking® do rag and could not pass on getting hers made out of the shiny, turquoise butterflies print with sparkles that she saw in a head wrap at Cassoday. Every show she sees me at since that time she pops in with it to show me that she still loves wearing it. She says, “If for some reason we take off without me having it on, I make him stop so I can put it on. I won’t ride without it now.” — Rita T., Topeka KS Press here to check out the second one Rita got the following spring that has an interesting lightening look to it.
Bennie was so glad to see the custom hair bag® do rag he ordered matched the T-shirt he was wearing the day my husband delivered it to him at the meeting they attended. He recently passed along my card to a person who wanted to know where he got it after they saw him take it off his hair when he parked his motorcycle. — Bennie H., Topeka KS Press here for more details on the hair bag.
Getting out on the road is a lot of fun on the motorcycles for my husband, Tony, and me. Both of us have longer hair. No worries about wind tangles for us with it put in our hair bag® and hair stocking® do rags.
She stood admiringly looking at the wall of do rags with her fellow riders at the Maple Leaf Festival and they all said she had a big head. I showed her the hair bag® and hair stocking® do rags and how they could work for her long hair, but she was convinced that they would not fit her head. You know what? They were all right. They had the regular size crown and could never work for her. I had already figured out that having a larger size in do rags was a must for big guys, so I had those available, but did not think I should do the same for the hair bags®. Thus, she tried on the do rag with the larger crown and ordered a custom hair bag® do rag with the larger crown. Voila! A fit!
It was a good request that has lead to others who need a larger size crown in the hair bag® and hair stocking® do rags. Some prefer to have the tips of their ears covered and the larger size works well for that. So, gals and guys who need the larger size crown know they will find them here.
