Headbands Made for Real Life

Comfortable, stay-put headbands made in four true sizes — designed to move with you time and time again.

No slipping. No squeezing. No constant adjusting.

Headbands That Actually Fit

Most headbands are made as “one size fits most.” Mine aren’t.
These headbands are designed with real fit in mind — made in clearly defined sizes, using fabric stretch (not hidden elastic) so they stay comfortable and secure all day.

Choose from wide or narrow styles depending on how much coverage and holding power you want — whether you’re working, moving, or just keeping your hair out of the way.

Style and Use (The Foundation)

What’s the difference between wide and narrow headbands?

Both styles are made the same way — the difference is how much coverage and holding power you want.

Wide headbands

Wide widths offer more surface contact and staying power.
They can be worn wide, folded, scrunched, or adjusted depending on the look you want.

These are commonly chosen for:

  • Active lifestyles

  • Sports or movement

  • Hair that needs more control

  • Situations where staying power matters most

  • Increased appeal in cases of exteme receiding hairline

Narrow headbands

Narrow widths are more of a style accent.
They’re often chosen by people who want a touch of color around the face without full coverage.

These are commonly chosen for:

  • Office or everyday wear

  • Petite builds

  • Short or curly hair

  • A lighter, less dominant look

  • Retaining hair while performing personal care routines

Some wearers with short hair prefer to pull the band down and gently push it up to the hairline so the hair and curls can naturally fluff over the top.

Fit & Sizing

Every head is different—that’s why these headbands are made in true, clearly defined sizes, not “one size fits most.”

Choose your size based on your head circumference:

  • Youth S–M: 19″ (labeled 19)
  • Youth L–XL: 20″ (labeled 20)
  • Adult S: 21″ (labeled 21)
  • Adult M: 22″ (labeled 22)

These are real sizes designed to give you a comfortable, secure fit without needing to compensate for stretch or adjustment.

If you’re between sizes or prefer a slightly looser feel, size up.
If you prefer a snugger fit, choose the smaller size.

Looking for a Headband That Can Do Both?

Occasionally, you’ll see a headband designed with a little more flexibility—a style that can be worn as both a headband and a scrunchie.

These are a one-size-fits-most design, created with a softer, more relaxed stretch than the standard true-size headbands. While they don’t offer the same exact-fit sizing, they provide an easy, versatile option when you want something quick and functional.

It’s a piece that works two ways:

  • Wear it as a headband
  • Or pull it back as a scrunchie

Wide vs. Narrow Headbands (Coverage & Style Choice)

“Why Do Headbands Slip on Me?”

Fit is influenced by more than just size.

Headband fit is affected by two things:

1. Proper fit around the head
If a headband is too small, it will continue to tighten as it is stretched beyond its design limits and may eventually pop off.

2. Natural bone structure at the back of the head
Many headbands rely on a slight natural protrusion along the back of the head along the hairline to help them “hook” and stay in place.

If this area is very straight, some headbands may slide — regardless of brand.

In these cases:

  • A wide headband made from a knit fabric (not a slick performance knit) may perform better due to its slightly more textured surface

  • Wearing the headband straight across the forehead, rather than pushed back, often improves hold

When a Headband Isn’t the Best Choice

If headbands consistently slide on you, even in the correct size, you may want to consider another style designed to stay more securely in place.

Skull caps are made from the same performance knits and headband materials you see here, but include a 3/4″ elastic around the head for added hold.

Welding caps offer a similar construction to the skull caps in cotton fabrics for an even snugger feel.

If you prefer an open crown and want exact adjustability, a visor may be the best option. The D-ring closure allows for a precise fit without relying on head shape.

Designed for Performance (Materials & Stretch)

What makes these headbands stretchy?

Headbands from Rawls-Riley Creations get their stretch directly from the fabric itself.
Performance knits and knit fabrics include spandex as part of the material — that’s it.

Nothing extra is added inside the headband to force stretch.
If it’s not in the fabric, it’s not in the headband.

This keeps the fit comfortable, flexible, and consistent without bulk or pressure.

Eco-Friendly & Folies Line Headbands

Are any headbands made from repurposed materials?

Yes.
The Folies Headwear line includes headbands made from repurposed and eco-friendly materials.

These details are listed on the individual product pages so you can choose based on material, feel, and purpose.

Moisture-Wicking & Specialty Fabrics

I get hot. Do you offer moisture-wicking headbands?

Yes —

  • Some headbands are made entirely from moisture-wicking materials
  • Some headbands are designed with a moisture-wicking backing.

Availability varies, and details are always listed on the individual product page.

Care

How do I care for my headband?

Easy care, everyday wear:

  • Machine or hand wash cold

  • Air dry

Do not put headbands in the dryer — heat can damage the fabric’s stretch over time.
