When VoyageKC reached out about sharing my story, I found myself thinking about how this work really began — not with a business plan, not with a studio full of equipment, but with a conversation.
Someone needed a hat that fit.
Someone else needed something that would stay put.
Another needed something soft enough, cool enough, protective enough, expressive enough.
Every design I make starts the same way:
with a person, a need, and a real-life moment I want to help them move through comfortably.
That’s why headwear has stayed with me longer than anything else I’ve done in my working life. It’s practical, personal, and human. It makes a difference you can feel the moment you put it on.
The VoyageKC interview touched on that — how Rawls-Riley Creations grew one conversation, one customer, and one carefully made piece at a time. If you’d like to read it, you’ll find the story here:
It means a lot to be asked to share this journey. I’m grateful that people see value in handcrafted headwear made with intention, real sizing, and real-life use in mind.
Thank you for being here — whether you’ve bought a piece, worn it for years, collaborated on a custom design, or simply cheered the work forward. You’re part of this story, too.
If you ever want to talk about a piece you’re imagining, something you need for work, or a solution for long hair, sun protection, comfort, or fit — I’m always glad to start the conversation.
